Choose according to the fluid, operating pressure, temperature, required flexibility and fitting system.

PTFE fuel tubing is a strong starting point for EFI, return and ethanol fuel applications when the selected product explicitly lists the fuel being used. It is relatively firm and requires PTFE specific hose ends.

Conductive PTFE tubing adds a conductive inner layer for applications such as E85 or methanol systems where static dissipation is required.

CPE fuel line is useful when flexible routing is a priority, but its approved fluids, pressure and temperature must be checked for the exact hose.

SAE J30R9 fuel injection hose is designed for flexible EFI fuel routing and is available from Evil Energy in 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 inch inner diameters.

Aluminum hard line is suitable for long, rigid chassis routes when the listed fluid and pressure match the application. Silicone vacuum tubing should remain in vacuum or air service unless fuel compatibility is explicitly stated.

Do not choose the size from horsepower or AN designation alone. Determine the required fuel flow, then check the pump outlet, filters, regulator, fuel rail or carburetor inlet and return port. The complete route should avoid an unintended restriction at a smaller fitting or adapter.

Compare the product’s actual inner diameter because two hoses with the same AN label can have different internal passages when their liner and reinforcement structures differ. Also account for line length, fuel pressure, pump design and whether the system uses a return line. Follow the fuel system or engine manufacturer’s sizing requirement when one is provided.

No. Fluid compatibility must be confirmed for the exact tubing rather than inferred from its appearance.

Evil Energy offers PTFE, conductive PTFE, SAE J30R9 and aluminum products that list specific ethanol or E85 applications. That does not make every CPE, rubber, vacuum or braided hose compatible with the same fluids. Also check whether the hose is approved for internal fuel exposure only or for full submersion inside a tank; those are different conditions.

If a fuel is not listed for the selected tubing, do not assume that the inner liner, reinforcement and fittings can tolerate it.

Aluminum hard line is useful for long, orderly runs along a chassis because it holds its shape and can reduce the amount of flexible hose required. It must be cut square, deburred, bent without flattening and connected with fittings designed for its tube outside diameter. It must not be used for pressurized brake lines.

Flexible braided fuel tubing is more suitable near the engine, pump, tank or other areas where vibration, powertrain movement or service access must be accommodated. Many custom systems use rigid tubing for the main chassis route and short flexible transitions at moving components.

Plan the complete route before cutting. Respect the published minimum bending radius, keep the line away from exhaust heat, sharp edges, rotating shafts and suspension travel, and allow enough movement at the engine and tank.

Use hose ends designed for the exact inner material. PTFE fittings, CPE fittings, barb connections and hardline compression fittings are not automatically interchangeable. Secure the route with suitable clamps and use grommets or bulkhead fittings where the line passes through a panel.

AN flare connections seal at the flare seat rather than at the threads. Thread sealant should not be applied to the AN flare sealing surface. Use a suitable sealant on tapered pipe threads only when specified. After assembly, inspect every connection under the system’s intended pressure before driving.
