The Evil Energy 2.5 inch custom exhaust tubing kit gives fabricators eight universal sections for replacing damaged rigid pipe or creating a custom route. The set includes two straight pipes, two 45 degree bends, two 90 degree bends and two 180 degree bends. Choose Exhaust Pipes by Diameter, Material and Connection

Choose exhaust tubing by the complete system, not by diameter alone. The tubing must match the collector, muffler inlet, resonator and planned outlet size while still clearing the axle, suspension and chassis. A larger pipe is not automatically the right choice. Engine displacement, power target, operating rpm, induction type and available underbody space should all guide the final diameter.

Mandrel bent exhaust tubing retains a more consistent tube shape through curves than crush bent tubing, helping avoid an unnecessary restriction at the bend. Expanded slip fit ends let adjoining sections overlap during mockup, but every joint must still be welded or secured with a correctly sized clamp and checked for leaks. What are Flexible Exhaust Pipes and Components, and are they included in this collection?

Flexible exhaust pipes use a corrugated or braided flex section to absorb engine movement and vibration before those forces reach rigid tubing, welds or exhaust hangers. The current Evil Energy collection lists rigid 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust tubing, not a flexible exhaust joint. If the damaged part is a flex section, choose a dedicated flex pipe that matches the pipe outside diameter, available installation length and connection method. A rigid bend should not replace a joint that was designed to move.

A 3.5 inch pipe has a nominal cross sectional area of approximately 9.62 square inches, compared with approximately 7.07 square inches for a 3 inch pipe. That is about 36% more nominal area, before wall thickness is considered. The additional area may be useful for high output engines that genuinely require more flow, but a larger pipe can also change exhaust gas velocity, sound and available underbody clearance.

Choose the diameter by engine displacement, power target, operating rpm, turbo or naturally aspirated configuration, collector size and muffler inlet size. The current Evil Energy tubing kit is 2.5 inch, so it does not directly answer a 3 inch or 3.5 inch application without correctly designed transitions.

Common materials include aluminized steel, 409 stainless steel and 304 stainless steel.

Aluminized steel is usually the cost focused option. Its coating offers better corrosion resistance than untreated mild steel, although cut edges, welded areas, condensation and road salt can affect service life.

409 stainless steel is widely used for durable automotive exhaust components. It tolerates exhaust heat and corrosion well, although surface discoloration or light surface rust can occur.

304 stainless steel provides stronger exterior corrosion resistance and a cleaner appearance, making it attractive for salt road regions, premium builds and visible exhaust work. It normally costs more and requires appropriate stainless welding procedures.

Not when the failed component is the flexible joint itself. The Evil Energy kit contains rigid straight and mandrel bent sections, so it can be used to replace or reroute damaged rigid tubing next to a flex pipe, but it does not provide the movement of a dedicated flex section.

For a proper flex pipe exhaust repair, measure the existing pipe outside diameter, total available length and the length of the failed flexible section. Select a compatible flex pipe, then determine whether the joint will be welded, clamped or connected with a sleeve. Inspect the surrounding hangers and engine mounts because excessive movement can cause a replacement flex pipe to fail again.

DIY installation is practical when you can safely raise and support the vehicle, measure the route, cut thin wall tubing accurately, tack the sections without distortion and perform a complete leak inspection. The Evil Energy kit is a universal exhaust tubing kit, so cutting and welding are required. It is not a vehicle specific bolt on system.

If comparing wall thicknesses, 16ga is approximately 0.065 inch or 1.65 mm and generally provides more welding and impact margin. 18ga is approximately 0.049 inch or 1.24 mm and saves weight, but it is less forgiving of excessive welding heat. The current Evil Energy page does not publish its wall gauge, so this specification should be confirmed before planning the welding setup.

Professional fabrication is the safer choice when routing is tight, stainless welding is required, or the work is close to fuel lines, brake lines, oxygen sensors or catalytic converters. The completed system must be securely supported, clear moving and heat sensitive parts, and remain leak free before regular driving.
