Before ordering, measure the hose outside diameter, map heat and movement zones, and match every clamp, tube and fitting to the actual system.

Choose the Right Hose Management Part for Your Installation

Good fuel line routing starts before the first hole is drilled. Lay out the tank, pump, filter, regulator and engine connections; then choose a path that stays clear of exhaust heat, sharp edges and moving components. Allow for engine, drivetrain and suspension movement, protect any panel pass-through with the correct grommet or bulkhead fitting, and support the line so it cannot sag or rub. Select the hose, hardline and AN fittings only after the route and connection angles are known.

Measure Hose Outside Diameter Before Choosing a Clamp Size

AN size describes the plumbing size; it does not guarantee a common outside diameter across PTFE, CPE, nylon-braided, stainless-braided and rubber hose constructions. Measure the fully assembled hose with calipers at the point where the clamp will sit. Choose a clamp that holds the line without crushing, flattening or cutting the cover.

Match the line construction to the system

For a long protected route along the chassis, hardline can provide a neat, stable installation with fewer unsupported sections. Flexible hose is useful where the engine, pump or other mounted component moves, and where service access requires some give. Many builds use both: hardline for the main run and short flexible sections at moving endpoints. If you still need to choose the hose itself, compare PTFE fuel line kits and CPE fuel line kits, then verify fuel compatibility, pressure, temperature, hose-end type and outside diameter on the selected product page.

What size hose separator or finisher clamp should I buy?

Measure the outside diameter of the finished hose where the clamp will sit; do not select from the AN label alone.

The black separator clamp has fixed inside diameters of 10.9 mm for 4AN, 12.9 mm for 6AN, 16 mm for 8AN, 19 mm for 10AN and 23.8 mm for 12AN.

The finisher clamp uses adjustable ranges: 8–12 mm for 4AN, 10–15 mm for 6AN, 13–18 mm for 8AN, 16–21 mm for 10AN and 19–29 mm for 12AN.

Hose OD can change with the liner, braid and outer cover, so the measured diameter is the deciding value. The correct clamp should hold the line securely without flattening the hose or damaging its cover.

  • hose separator clamp keeps adjacent flexible lines aligned and apart, improving organization and reducing line-to-line contact. It is useful for paired feed/return, oil or transmission lines when the measured diameters match.
  • hose finisher clamp is used at the end of nylon-braided, stainless-braided or rubber hose. Its adjustable band distributes clamping load and gives the connection a cleaner finish; it does not organize a long hose run by itself.
  • tube clamp supports rigid hardline against the vehicle structure. The EVILENERGY 25FT aluminum line kit includes four tube clamps, but the complete route may require additional correctly sized supports depending on the chassis, bends and component locations.

These parts solve different problems and may be used together. A separator that keeps two hoses parallel should not be treated as the only chassis support unless its mounting method is specifically designed for that purpose.

Start with the factory route as a reference when it remains suitable, then keep the new line away from exhaust components, sharp edges, steering, driveshafts, suspension travel and other moving parts.

Use smooth bends rather than kinks, leave enough flexible length for powertrain movement, and check clearance through the full range of suspension and steering travel. Secure the line to solid structure with correctly sized supports, protect every panel pass-through, and add heat protection where safe clearance alone cannot be achieved.

Before starting the engine, follow the component instructions to pressurize the system and inspect every connection; correct any seepage, fuel odor, chafing point or unsupported section before driving.

Neither is automatically better for the whole vehicle.Aluminum hardlineis well suited to a long, protected, low-movement chassis run because it can be shaped into a consistent path and supported firmly.Flexible braided hoseis easier to route around complex areas and is appropriate at moving or serviceable connections, provided its material, fittings and bend radius match the system.

A practical layout often uses hardline for the center section and short flexible connections at the tank, pump or engine. The EVILENERGY aluminum kit is offered as a 25FT run in 3/8-inch or 5/16-inch OD and includes a cutter, bender, deburring tool, tube clamps and compression fittings; buyers still need to confirm line size, flow demand, fuel compatibility and end connections for their own build.

They can run in parallel where the route, temperatures and service needs allow, but each line must remain identifiable, independently supported where necessary and protected from rubbing. Label feed and return lines during installation, avoid placing fuel lines next to battery cables or high-current wiring, and do not let a shared separator force one line into a tight bend or transmit movement from another system. Brake plumbing and other safety-critical circuits should follow the vehicle or component manufacturer’s routing and support requirements rather than being grouped simply for appearance. A professional-looking engine bay comes from a safe, serviceable route first; matching colors and perfectly parallel lines come second.
