Choose by function first

Use a hose separator clamp when the goal is to secure and separate adjacent lines for cleaner routing. The black separator clamp is offered in 4AN–12AN and in packs of 4, 6, 8, or 10. Red and blue separator clamps are sold as four-piece sets in 4AN–10AN.

Choose a hose finisher clamp when you need an adjustable clamp around a nylon-braided, stainless-braided, or rubber hose end. It is offered in two- and four-piece packs and uses a removable captive screw.

Measure before ordering

Measure the outside diameter at the exact point where the clamp will sit, including any braid or outer covering. Do not select from hose inside diameter, fitting thread size, or AN label alone.

What is the difference between a hose separator clamp and a hose finisher clamp?

A hose separator clamp secures and separates adjacent lines to keep the route organized. A hose finisher clamp wraps around a hose end, distributes the clamping load, and helps limit hose deformation during installation. Choose according to the job rather than appearance alone.

Measure the hose’s actual outside diameter at the intended clamp location, including the braid or outer cover. Compare that measurement with the published inner-hole diameter or adjustable range. Do not assume that matching AN labels automatically guarantees fit.

The separator clamps are listed for fuel hose, oil line, brake line, gas line, and water pipe organization. The finisher clamp is listed for nylon-braided, stainless-braided, and rubber hose ends. The clamp organizes the line; the hose itself must still be correctly rated for its fluid, pressure, temperature, and application.

Use the following as a practical starting point:

  • Straight runs: Install one clamp every 12–18 inches.
  • Bends: Add one clamp immediately before and after each major change in direction.
  • Branches and terminations: Add one near each branch point or line end.
  • High-heat or high-vibration areas: Consider closer 8–10-inch spacing.

Quick calculation

Straight-run hose length in inches ÷ 15 = baseline clamp quantity
Round up, then add the clamps required for bends, branches, and terminations.

Example:
A 60-inch straight run requires approximately 4 clamps (60 ÷ 15 = 4), plus any additional clamps needed around bends or connection points.

These figures are planning guidelines, not universal installation specifications. Check line support, clearance, and bend radius for your particular build. Always select the clamp according to the hose’s actual outside diameter (OD), as braid and liner construction can affect the finished size.

For most installations, you need only a caliper or tape measure, a marker, and the correctly sized hex key or screwdriver bit for the supplied fastener.

Basic installation steps

  1. Confirm the size. Measure the hose’s outside diameter rather than relying only on its AN or inside-diameter designation. Hose construction can change the finished OD.
  2. Mark the position. Place separator clamps where the lines need to remain aligned and apart. Position a finisher clamp around the intended hose-end area.
  3. Open the clamp. Remove or loosen the fastener and place the clamp around the hose or hoses without twisting the lines.
  4. Start the fastener by hand. Align both clamp halves before using a tool to reduce the risk of cross-threading.

  6. Check the routing. Verify clearance from moving components, sharp edges, and high-heat areas, then inspect the fastener again after the first drive or heat cycle.

Tools you may not need

  • An AN wrench is needed only if you are also installing or servicing hose fittings.
  • A hose cutter, vise, or fitting assembly tool is needed only when fabricating a new hose assembly.
