What should a fuel pressure regulator kit include?

A fuel pressure regulator kit should include the regulator and the parts required for its stated installation level. A basic kit may include a gauge, fittings and bracket, while a plumbing or complete fuel-system kit may add filters, hose, AN fittings and a fuel pump. Always review the selected variant’s package list because components differ between kits.

Buy a regulator alone if the existing pump, fuel lines, filter, return line and fittings are compatible and in good condition. Choose a fuel pressure regulator kit when building a new system, changing line size or fuel type, or when you also need a gauge, filters, hose, fittings or pump. A kit can reduce component-matching errors, but its contents still need to be verified.

Choose an EFI fuel pressure regulator kit that matches the base pressure required by the injectors and controller, the pump’s flow at operating pressure, the supply and return-line sizes and the fuel being used. For an LS swap, also verify hose length, 6AN/8AN sizing, fuel-rail or factory-port adapters, filter configuration and whether the pump is included.

No. E85 compatibility must apply to the regulator seals, pump, filters, hose liner and fittings—not only one component. Select a kit that explicitly lists E85 or ethanol compatibility for the complete configuration. If choosing between CPE and PTFE, do not assume both options have the same fuel compatibility; verify the exact hose variant before ordering.

Confirm the target pressure, pump flow, regulator type, return-line requirement, hose material, AN size, filter ratings, hose length, port threads and included fittings. Identify every inlet, outlet and return port before plumbing the system. Securely mount the regulator and pump, follow the product-specific installation instructions and perform a complete leak and pressure test before driving.
