Choose Hose Barb Fittings by Hose ID and Port Thread

Start by matching the listed barb size to the compatible hose inside diameter, not the hose outside diameter. Then identify the mating port as NPT, metric, or ORB. NPT tapered threads seal at the threads and require compatible thread sealant; selected metric and ORB designs use the washer or O ring specified on the product page. What size hose barb fitting do I need for my hose?

For example, begin with a 3/8 inch barb only when the hose manufacturer identifies the hose as 3/8 inch ID and approves a barb connection. Confirm the actual barb dimensions, hose material, and installation method on both product pages. If the hose requires extreme force to install or must be crushed by the clamp to stop seepage, recheck the size instead of tightening further.
