Fuel Cell Foam Inside: Less Slosh, Less Risk

Hard cornering, sudden braking, quick acceleration, and steep climbs can push fuel to one side of the tank. When the fuel level is low, the outlet may become temporarily uncovered, allowing the fuel pump to draw in air. This can lead to pressure fluctuations, inconsistent fuel delivery, or momentary engine hesitation.

Anti-slosh Fuel Cell Foam uses an open-cell structure to break up large volumes of moving fuel inside the tank. By slowing fuel movement from front to back and side to side, the foam helps keep fuel closer to the pickup, reduces the chance of the pump drawing air at low fuel levels, and supports more consistent fuel delivery during drift, drag, track-day, and off-road driving.

Fuel Cell Foam vs. an Empty Fuel Tank

In an empty tank without foam, fuel can move quickly from one side to the other during acceleration, braking, cornering, or climbing. Fuel Cell Foam disperses that movement throughout its porous structure, reducing the force of fuel surge and helping maintain a more consistent supply around the outlet during aggressive or uneven driving.

Fuel Cell Foam vs. a Fuel Tank Baffle

A fixed Fuel Tank Baffle controls fuel movement through metal partitions placed in specific areas of the tank. Fuel Cell Foam fills more of the internal space, allowing it to reduce fuel movement in multiple directions without requiring a complex internal baffle layout. This makes it especially useful in compact cube fuel tanks where space and multi-directional slosh control matter.

Before using E85, ethanol, methanol, or specialty racing fuel, confirm that the foam is chemically compatible with the selected fuel. Compatibility of the aluminum tank alone does not guarantee compatibility of the foam, seals, hoses, pump, or other fuel-system components.

Prefer a Fuel Tank Without Foam?

EVIL ENERGY also offers 15- and 19-gallon rectangular fuel tanks without internal foam. These foam-free tanks are easier to inspect, drain, and clean, and there is no foam to absorb old fuel when switching fuel types or servicing a contaminated system.

The rectangular tanks support gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, racing fuel, E85, methanol, and ethanol when the complete fuel system uses compatible components. For E85, methanol, or ethanol applications, pair the tank with compatible seals and PTFE fuel lines throughout the fuel path.
