15 Gal And 19 Gal Rectangular Fuel Tank Specifications Comparison
Before ordering, measure the clearance above the cap, sending unit, vent hose, and fittings; actual driving range will depend on fuel consumption and reserve.
The Evil Energy 15/19 Gal aluminum fuel tank uses a 1060-H24 aluminum material in tank body and screw-on fuel tank cap. This material combines low weight, corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability, helping reduce tank weight compared with similarly sized steel alternatives. Its rigid construction also supports custom mounting and AN-plumbed performance fuel systems.
| Decision Factor | Evil Energy Aluminum Fuel Cell | Plastic Fuel Tank | Steel Fuel Tank | Stainless Steel Fuel Tank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Installation & Space Fit | Well suited to low-profile custom layouts | Best for complex molded shapes | Rigid but heavier to mount | Rigid but heavier to mount |
| Weight | Lightweight | Usually the lightest | Heavy | Heavy |
| Strength & Impact Resistance | Strong rigidity-to-weight balance | Depends on polymer and wall design | High strength with more mass | High strength with more mass |
| Corrosion Resistance | Good corrosion resistance | No rust; fuel compatibility varies | Rust risk if coating is damaged | Excellent corrosion resistance |
| Cost | Mid-range; strong overall value | Varies by molded design | Usually lower upfront cost | Usually highest upfront cost |
| Fire & Vapor Safety | Non-combustible shell; proper venting required | Heat resistance depends on polymer | Non-combustible shell; proper venting required | Non-combustible shell; proper venting required |
| Safety & Compliance | Depends on the complete tank design, mounting, venting, and required certification—not the tank material alone. | |||
The best material of a fuel tank depends on the vehicle, fuel, mounting environment, weight target, and required certification. For automotive performance builds where weight and custom AN plumbing matter, an aluminum fuel cell offers a practical balance.

Two AN8 ports support fuel outlet and return-line routing for a return-style EFI system. Use matching AN8 hose ends and adapters, while sizing the pump, filters, regulator, and lines for the engine’s actual fuel demand.
The another top-mounted AN8 vent port allows the tank to breathe during fuel use and refueling, helping prevent pressure or vacuum buildup. Its built-in ball bearing helps restrict liquid fuel during slosh or vehicle tilt; route the vent hose above the highest fill point and safely outside the passenger compartment.
The screw-on aluminum fuel tank cap uses threaded engagement to compress the seal evenly and requires multiple turns to open, reducing accidental release from vibration or contact. Its lightweight, corrosion-resistant construction is easy to inspect; keep the seal and mating surface clean to maintain reliable closure.
Confirm the Installation Space: Measure the selected tank before installation. The 15-gallon model measures 29.53 × 12.01 × 9.25 inches, while the 19-gallon model measures 29.53 × 12.20 × 12.01 inches. Keep the tank away from exhaust heat, suspension components, sharp edges, and impact areas.
Leave Installation Clearance: Maintain 22–33 mm of clearance around the Evil Energy aluminum fuel cell to prevent chassis contact and preserve access to the cap, sending unit, vent, fittings, and fuel lines.

Isolate the Tank from Metal: Place rubber pads or vibration-absorbing brackets between the rectangular aluminum fuel tank and its metal support. Avoid direct metal-to-metal contact that can cause vibration, abrasion, and stress around the welded joints.
Use the 2-Inch Mounting Tabs: Secure the 15/19 Gallon rectangular aluminum fuel tank to a rigid, level structure capable of supporting it when full. Use appropriately rated hardware through the integrated mounting tabs. Do not drill, cut, or weld the tank body.
Protect Exposed Installations: Add a bottom guard when the fuel cell is mounted underneath the vehicle or exposed to road debris. Leave clearance between the guard and tank to prevent direct impact transfer.
Connect the Dual AN8 Ports: Use the two 15/19 Gallon rectangular aluminum fuel tank’AN8 ports for fuel outlet and return-line routing in a return-style EFI system. Select matching hose ends and follow the fuel-pump manufacturer’s requirements for pump position, filters, line size, and wiring.
Route the Top-Mounted AN8 Vent: Run the vent hose upward above the highest fill point before routing it safely outside the passenger compartment. The built-in ball bearing helps restrict liquid fuel from entering the vent during fuel slosh or vehicle tilt.
Match the 0–90 Ohm Sending Unit: Connect the included sender to a compatible 0–90 ohm fuel gauge and provide a clean, secure electrical ground.

Inspect the Completed System: Prime the fuel system without starting the engine and inspect the tank, cap, fittings, hoses, filters, pump, and regulator. Correct every leak before operating the vehicle and inspect the system periodically.
Professional installation is recommended for projects involving chassis fabrication, electrical work, high-pressure EFI plumbing, or racing-rule compliance.
The Evil Energy aluminum fuel cell supports gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, racing fuel, E85, methanol, and ethanol, but complete fuel compatibility depends on every component in the system.

For E85, methanol, or ethanol applications, use PTFE fuel lines kit throughout the fuel path. Do not use CPE fuel lines with these alcohol-based fuels because the material may swell, deteriorate, or leak over time. Before installation, confirm that every fuel-contact component is rated for the fuel you plan to run.
This product is a tank-only configuration. It includes the selected 15-gallon or 19-gallon rectangular aluminum fuel tank with a fuel sending unit. The fuel pump, fuel filters, pressure regulator, fuel line, hose ends, wiring, and installation hardware must be purchased separately.
Evil Energy offers both rectangular and cube-style aluminum fuel tanks. This 15/19-gallon rectangular design spreads capacity across a longer, lower enclosure suited to trunk floors, pickup beds, and custom rear chassis areas; if your build has less floor space but more vertical clearance, compare the available cube universal fuel cell.
Choosing the supporting components separately gives you more control over pump flow, system pressure, filtration, line size, and fuel compatibility. Evil Energy offers CPE, PTFE, and antistatic PTFE fuel lines for different applications. Use a PTFE-based fuel line instead of CPE when running E85, methanol, or ethanol, and confirm that the pump, filters, regulator, and fittings also support the selected fuel.
If you prefer to source the main fuel-delivery components together, the Evil Energy 15-Gallon Fuel Cell Kit includes a fuel cell with anti-slosh foam, a 300 LPH external pump, 100-micron and 10-micron filters, an adjustable pressure regulator, aluminum hard line, and connecting adapters. It provides a coordinated starting point for a custom return-style EFI fuel system while leaving the final plumbing and wiring layout to match the vehicle.
For builds that require a larger tank and PTFE plumbing, the Evil Energy 20-Gallon Fuel Cell Kit pairs a 20-gallon aluminum fuel cell with a level sender, anti-slosh foam, 6AN PTFE fuel line, hose ends, and adapters. The pump, filters, and regulator are not included, making this option suitable for builders who already have those components or want to select them separately.
If you already have a matched external pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filters, and Line kit, this tank-only configuration lets you complete a system around your specific engine requirements. If you need the major components together, compare the Evil Energy complete fuel tank kit with pump, filters, regulator, fuel line, and fittings.
