About this item

Need a reliable AN-to-AN coupler to extend your fuel hose? EVIL ENERGY AN Male to AN Male flare coupler union delivers 1,500 PSI leak-free performance in black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for DIYers and mechanics extending fuel lines, connecting fuel pumps, and building cooler systems.

Precision 8AN to 8AN Male-to-Male Coupler Union

This fitting adapter features threads on both ends, providing a reliable straight union for connecting two AN lines. The accurately machined threads ensure a perfect match and secure connection when extending fuel hoses, building cooler systems, or connecting fuel pumps in automotive applications.

37-Degree Flare Sealing for Leak-Free Performance

Both AN connections use a standard 37° flare angle, creating a metal-to-metal seal that holds under high pressure without the need for thread sealant or PTFE tape. The precision-machined sealing angles ensure tight, consistent, and leak-free connections at both ends, maintaining stable system performance.

6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy with Black Anodized Finish

Built from high-strength 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish, this coupler fitting offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and a professional appearance. The anodized coating provides additional protection against wear and environmental exposure in under-hood automotive environments.

1,500 PSI Rating for Fuel System Applications

Rated for 1,500 PSI maximum working pressure and a temperature range from -65°F to 252°F (-53°C to 122°C), this coupler is suitable for fuel hoses, fuel pump connections, cooler systems, and other high-performance automotive applications demanding reliable fluid transfer.

If you need further information or assistance, feel free to ask!

Q: Can I use a union to join an 8AN hose to a 10AN hose?

A: No. This is a same-size union, so both ends carry identical threads. Joining different AN sizes needs a reducer union, which is a different part. Before ordering, confirm both hose ends are the same size, since it is common to find a build where one section was plumbed in 8AN and the next in 10AN without anyone noticing.

Q: Does adding a union reduce flow?

A: In practice, no measurable amount. The bore through the union matches the nominal AN size, so an 8AN union does not restrict an 8AN line. Real flow loss in a fuel system comes from hose length, bend radius, filter condition and fitting count at the pump inlet, not from one straight inline union.

Q: How tight should an AN union be?

A: Hand tight until the cones contact, then roughly a quarter turn with a wrench, or 20 N·m (15 ft-lb) if you are using a torque wrench. Past that point extra torque deforms the cone rather than improving the seal. A crushed cone never seals properly again, so if a joint weeps, take it apart and inspect the faces rather than tightening further.

Q: Why is my union leaking when I did not use any sealant?

A: Sealant is not the cause and adding it will not help. Work through these in order: a nicked cone face on either the union or the hose end, debris on the cone, an over-torqued joint that has flattened the cone, or a cross-threaded start. Wipe both cones clean, inspect under good light, and reassemble. Any visible scoring across a cone means that fitting is finished.

Q: Can I use these in a brake system?

A: This part is intended for fuel, oil and coolant. AN unions are used on brake systems in motorsport, but street brake hydraulics is a separate question involving inspection requirements that vary by state, and aluminum is not the material most builders choose for brake circuits. For brake plumbing, use fittings specified for that purpose.

Q: Will the black anodizing wear off?

A: The finish is a converted surface layer rather than a coating, so it does not flake or peel the way paint does. It will show wear on the hex flats where a wrench grips, which is cosmetic. Using a correctly sized open-end wrench rather than an adjustable one keeps that to a minimum, since the marks come from slipping, not from clamping.

Q: Can I mount a union through a bulkhead or panel?

A: No. A straight union has no shoulder or nut to clamp against a panel. Passing a line through a firewall, floor or tank wall needs a bulkhead fitting, which has a threaded body and a locking nut for that purpose. Using a union in a drilled hole leaves the line unsupported and puts the load on the hose ends.

Q: Are these reusable if I take the system apart?

A: Yes. Nothing in the joint is consumed. Inspect both cone faces every time the union comes apart and keep using it as long as they are unmarked. Aluminum cones mark more easily than steel, so store loose fittings in a bag rather than loose in a drawer where they knock against each other.

Q: How do I hold the union while tightening?

A: Two wrenches. Hold the union hex with one and turn the hose end nut with the other, so all the torque stays inside the joint. Tightening against a hose alone twists the braid and can loosen the far end. If the union needs to be held in a vise, use grooved pads rather than bare steel jaws, since serrated jaws will mark anodized aluminum.

Q: Is aluminum strong enough, or should I look for steel?

A: 6061-T6 aluminum is the standard for AN fittings, and has been for decades, because it holds a precise cone face at a fraction of the weight. The trade is that it is easier to damage during assembly: it rounds if the wrong wrench is used and the cone marks more easily than steel. Steel and stainless unions exist and are the choice where fittings are removed frequently or where the line runs somewhere it will be knocked. For a permanent fuel system, aluminum is what most builds use.
