Manual Fuel Shutoff Valve for 6AN, 8AN and 10AN Lines

Add a dedicated shutoff point to a custom fuel or fluid line without converting between AN and pipe threads. This EVIL ENERGY fuel shutoff valve uses matching male AN connections on both ends in 6AN, 8AN and 10AN sizes, and its cable-ready lever gives manual on/off control for service, storage, draining or line isolation. Choose the size that matches the female swivel hose ends already in your system, or pair it with a PTFE fuel line kit for a new installation.

Operation

How the Cable Lever Opens and Closes the Valve

Pulling the cable lever moves the internal mechanism and opens the valve, letting fluid flow in the direction of the FLOW arrow. Releasing or pushing the lever back closes the valve and stops flow.

This is a manually operated shutoff valve, not an automatic check valve. If you need fuel to stop flowing backward on its own, use an AN one-way check valve instead. Run the shutoff valve fully open or fully closed rather than part-way.

Race car fuel cutoff

Racing rules often require a quick-action fuel shutoff within the driver's reach in the main line between the tank and the engine. NHRA, for example, requires one on carbureted and non-electronic fuel systems and with non-OEM mechanical fuel pumps. The cable lever lets you mount the valve near the tank and operate it from the seat.

Fuel cell and pump service

Close the line at the racing fuel cell before changing a pump, filter or regulator, so you are not draining the whole tank.

Project car storage

Shut the fuel off before long-term storage and run the carburetor or rail dry, so old fuel does not sit in the float bowl or injectors.

Construction

What the AN Shutoff Valve Is Made Of

The body is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a black anodized finish that resists corrosion, wear and chemical exposure. Each AN port seals to the body with an FKM O-ring.

It is rated for 1500 PSI working pressure and -63°F to 252°F, and is safe for gasoline, diesel, E85, methanol, ethanol, coolant, air, mineral oil, hydraulic oil and synthetic oil.

Installation

How to Install the AN Fuel Shutoff Valve

Both ports are male AN threads with a 37° flare. The flare faces create the seal against matching female AN swivel fittings, and the threads simply draw the surfaces together. Do not use NPT fittings or pipe-thread tape on the flare. To reach an NPT port, add the correct AN-to-NPT adapter.

Allow room for the lever and cable to travel through their full range without touching hoses, brackets or wiring, and support the valve and lines so the fittings are not side-loaded. Identify the fully open and fully closed lever positions and the FLOW direction before pressurizing, then bring pressure up gradually and check every joint for leaks.
