GM Gen V UF743 Ignition Coil & 8.5mm Spark Plug Wire Kit

A reliable gasoline-engine ignition system depends on more than the ignition coil alone. The coil must generate the required high voltage, and the spark plug wire must carry that energy to the spark plug through repeated engine-bay heat cycles and vibration. This EVIL ENERGY GM Gen V ignition kit combines 8 UF743 high-output ignition coils with an 8.5mm spark plug wire set and 8 basalt heat sleeves to service both sides of the coil-to-plug ignition path on selected compatible Chevrolet and GMC V8 applications.

The UF743 coil set is listed with 111mJ spark energy, 1.8 mS spark duration, and up to 52,000V maximum voltage. The matching wire set uses an 8.5mm silicone-insulated wire body, stainless-steel conductor, multi-angle plug boots, EMI/RFI suppression, and heat sleeves for additional protection around the spark-plug-end area.

Fitment first: This bundle is configured for compatible gasoline V8 applications. The UF743 coil may also appear in some V6 fitment data, but the included spark plug wire product contains eight wires and is not the correct configuration for a 4.3L V6. Final compatibility should be confirmed from the engine, original coil style, connector, plug terminal, wire reach, and exhaust-side clearance before ordering.

Why Replace Ignition Coils and Spark Plug Wires Together?

The ignition coil and spark plug wire perform different jobs in the same circuit. The ignition coil generates the high-voltage spark energy, while the spark plug wire transfers that energy from the coil to the plug. A new coil cannot correct a damaged, loose, heat-stressed, or internally high-resistance wire, and a new wire cannot correct a weak or failing coil.

Servicing both components together can be useful when the vehicle has accumulated substantial mileage, when several ignition components show heat aging, or when the goal is to refresh the complete coil-to-plug path across all eight cylinders. It also makes it easier to inspect the related spark plugs, terminals, wire holders, boot clearance, and exhaust-side heat exposure during one service operation.

This kit should be treated as an ignition-system service and upgrade package, not as a substitute for proper diagnosis. Misfire, rough-idle, hard-start, or hesitation symptoms can also be caused by worn spark plugs, injector or fuel-delivery faults, vacuum leaks, compression problems, wiring faults, ECU calibration, or other engine conditions.

UF743 High-Output Ignition Coils — Spark Generation Side

The coil component of this bundle is EVIL ENERGY's UF743 replacement ignition coil for selected GM LT / Gen V direct-injection applications. Its listed electrical specifications include 111mJ spark energy, 1.8 mS spark duration, 52,000V maximum voltage, 0.53-ohm primary resistance, 4.47k-ohm secondary resistance, and a 71:1 turns ratio.

For a bundle installation, the most important point is matching the coil to the vehicle's original ignition architecture. Confirm the UF743-style coil body, electrical connector, mounting points, and engine application before removing the original set. The coil specification describes the component's electrical design; it does not by itself guarantee a horsepower increase or correct a non-ignition-related engine fault.

8.5mm Spark Plug Wires — Spark Transfer Side

The included 8.5mm spark plug wire set connects each coil to its corresponding spark plug. The wire uses a stainless-steel conductor and silicone insulation rated from -40°C to 220°C, with listed resistance of 293-439 Ohms per foot. Multi-angle plug boots provide routing flexibility where plug-end clearance varies around GM engine bays.

The wire set also includes 8 basalt spark plug wire heat sleeves. Each sleeve is listed at 22mm inner diameter and 155mm length, with an 800°C continuous heat-resistance reference and up to 2000°C instant-heat reference. The sleeves are intended to reduce radiant heat exposure around the spark-plug-end boot and nearby wire section; they do not make continuous direct contact with an exhaust manifold or header tube safe.

If you need further information or assistance, feel free to ask!

Q: How do you know if your ignition coil is bad on a Chevy Silverado?
A: Common signs of a failing ignition coil Chevy Silverado include persistent engine misfires, a 'Check Engine' light (codes P0300-P0308), and noticeable engine shaking. If your ig coil is weak, you will also notice a significant drop in fuel economy and power during acceleration.

Q: Can a faulty vehicle coil cause my Silverado to shake at idle?
A: Yes. A bad vehicle coil often causes 'unwanted shaking' or a rough idle because it cannot provide a consistent spark to the cylinder. Replacing your worn units with a high-output EVIL ENERGY ignition coil restores a smooth driving experience and engine stability.

Q: Will upgrading to an EVIL ENERGY ignition coil fix my P0300 misfire code?
A: In most cases, yes. Misfire codes often stem from a weak car ignition coil that cannot fire under load. Our EVIL ENERGY ignition coil delivers a massive 52,000V, which is powerful enough to clear misfires that standard Chevy ignition coil units cannot handle.

Q: How often should I replace the 5.3 ignition coils on my Chevy truck?
A: While there is no fixed mileage, most 5.3 ignition coils begin to degrade between 60,000 and 100,000 miles due to heat soak. Upgrading to a high-performance coil ignition system early can prevent 'Limp Mode' and ensure your truck is always ready for heavy-duty work.

Q: Is it better to replace one ig coil or the entire ignition coil kit?
A: For consistent performance, it is highly recommended to replace the entire ignition coil kit. When one ig coil fails, the others have likely suffered the same thermal stress; a full set of EVIL ENERGY ignition coil units ensures a balanced and reliable coil ignition system.

Q: Why does my Silverado hesitate during AFM/DFM cylinder transitions?
A: This 'stumble' is frequently caused by weak 5.3 ignition coils that fail to reignite the deactivated cylinders instantly. The 111mJ spark energy of our EVIL ENERGY ignition coil provides the intense fire needed for seamless transitions in your ignition coil Chevy Silverado.

Q: Can a bad Chevy ignition coil reduce my gas mileage?
A: Absolutely. An inefficient coil ignition system results in incomplete combustion, wasting fuel. By installing a fresh Chevy ignition coil set, you optimize combustion efficiency, which helps recover lost MPG and lowers your daily fuel costs.

Q: What are the technical benefits of 52,000V in a car ignition coil?
A: The 52,000V maximum voltage in our car ignition coil allows the spark to jump the spark plug gap more efficiently, even under high-compression or supercharged conditions. This makes it a superior vehicle coil upgrade for owners demanding maximum power.

Q: Is the EVIL ENERGY ignition coil a direct fit for my Gen 5 V8?
A: Yes. Each EVIL ENERGY ignition coil is precision-machined as a direct-fit replacement for the OE UF743. It is a 'plug-and-play' ig coil upgrade, requiring no modifications to your existing ignition coil Chevy Silverado wiring.

Q: How do these coils handle the extreme heat of a GMC Sierra or Silverado engine bay?
A: Our vehicle coil is engineered with premium high-temperature resistant materials and a 0.53 ohms primary resistance. This ensures that your coil ignition system remains stable and durable, even during the most demanding towing conditions in a Chevy ignition coil application.
